IRON WORKERS LOCAL UNION NO. 402

Our Ironworkers Local 402 History

The International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers granted a Charter to Local Union 402 in West Palm Beach on January 11, 1926. Since then, the members of this great brotherhood have worked on some major projects on the cutting edge of the industrial and commercial markets; such high profile jobs, as the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant, which was built and is maintained by our ironworker members. Local Union 402 also works with the Solid Waste Authority on industrial projects. Churches, theaters, supermarkets, strip malls and packing houses are some types of the commercial work that our members perform; as well as hot spots, such as Downtown At The Gardens, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and City Place in West Palm Beach (the place to see and be seen) in Palm Beach County.

The ironworkers of Local Union 402 along with our signatory contractors also give back to our communities. Eagle Metal Fabricators, Inc. for over ten years has erected a 115 foot Christmas tree in downtown Delray Beach. This work is done by ironworkers and apprentices employed by Eagle Metal Fabricators, Inc., who donate their time.

Local Union 402 covers an area from Sebastian in Indian River County, south through St. Lucie County, Martin County, Palm Beach County, to Sample Road in Broward County. Our western area includes the counties of Okeechobee, Highlands, Glades and Hendry. All of these counties compose the jurisdiction of Local Union 402, and we plan in the future to perform any and all of the ironwork in our jurisdiction.
